Apps for Good Expert Community

Since its beginning, Apps for Good has been very lucky to receive growing support and advice from leaders in the tech and creative world, including mobile developers, designers, and entrepreneurs, who together form our unique Apps for Good Expert Community.

Our vision is that our Expert Community will become the simplest option for web and mobile professionals who want to volunteer their expertise and provide guidance and opportunity for the next generation. With Apps for Good, we are creating an environment for industry professionals to work closely and constructively with young people, both in person and, soon, remotely.

Types of involvement:

  • Attend students’ ideas pitches  Midway through each course,  we hold small public events where student teams pitch their early-stage app ideas, in order to gather feedback and suggestions from the audience.
  • Review projects remotely via Skype As we grow, online and remote involvement from experts will be key. We are working to make this as easy as possible, allowing you to give the same quality of support to student teams from afar. Have a look at our Expert Request page and get in touch if you can make it down to a school or can squeeze in 1/2 an hour via Skype.
  • Offer work experience We are keen to secure work experience opportunities for our course alumni. So far, we have helped a number of students find placements via our Expert Community, and the results have been great.

In shaping our Expert Community, we have listened closely to the thoughts and ideas of our current members, as well as those of our students and educators, to find the best ways of working with us and our students.
