What is your product and who is it for?

Our product is a forum app dedicated to providing a safe space and advice for young carers and those who want to support them.

What inspired your idea, and why is it important to you?

We were inspired by apps and websites such as Reddit, Childline and Kooth. They all provide advice, however, none of them are dedicated or built for young carers. We would like to support the young carers in our Academy and community through mutual support.

How does your product solve the problem?

Our app allows people to interact with each other and get advice and support from people who have faced the same problem. The community of users and support networks will be utilised to solve a problem or advise on the support a young carer may need.

How does it work?

The app will have a built-in forum feature where young carers share their experiences and advice anonymously. Furthermore, users will be able to customise their profiles with labels, triggers etc. This will give information on their current struggles and enlighten people on ways to help them.

Why vote for Carelight?

We recommend people vote for our team because our app is original in its main audience. We acknowledge apps such as Reddit and Childline do have the goal to provide help for people, but we want to give our focus to the support young carers need. The market has not provided an appropriate app for them and we aim to change this, not only for them, but also others that have not been informed on how to help them as well!
