What is your product and who is it for?
Our product Crickeat is a nutrition calculator that helps you to integrate insects into your diet, as well as providing recipes to mask a perhaps unappealing taste. It is for anyone who is trying to eat more healthily and is willing to try something new to save the planet.
What inspired your idea, and why is it important to you?
Recently me and Benedict got to try some crickets, and can genuinely say that they are not too bad and they seemed like a wonder food once we found out they are so unbelievably sustainable making them a good idea for us to base our app around.
How does your product solve the problem?
Insects are hundreds of times more sustainable than than other meats like beef or pork and are also incredibly rich in protein and fibre which are two things many people do not get enough of in the modern world with 1 in 8 having a protein deficiency and 1 in 20 being deficient in fibre.
How does it work?
The app would include a nutrition calculator which would take in a range of values (height, weight, gender, exercise frequency) to tell people their nutrition needs. It would also provide them with recipes using insects which we would sell and provide appropriate macros helping them to meal plan.

Why vote for Crickeat?
Why should your product be the Judge's Favourite and why should people vote for you in the People’s Choice Award?
Recently there has been a lot of debate around eating meat regarding climate change and an insect based diet is a great alternative to keep the diet rich in protein, so we feel that we are well suited to such issues as well as helping people be healthier.
The Climate Changers category is sponsored by OVO Foundation
