What is your product and who is it for?
Small Talk - Connecting you to a Better Future. Supporting parents and their children who are making their future subject and career choice
What inspired your idea, and why is it important to you?
Lack of awareness amongst parents/carers about the different career opportunities now available to young people. Also how language could be a barrier for some parents/carers. It’s important as some parents/carers are limited in what careers their child can do. We want to bring them a platform where they can gain wider knowledge about the different career pathways that they are not aware of.
How does your product solve the problem?
Tutorial video with a voice-over (will have the option to skip if necessary). Will allow you to change language settings and will also have a chat function. Solving misconception and conflict about careers between parents/carers and children.
Why should your product win its category and why should people vote for you in the People’s Choice Award?
Our design will tackle misconceptions about different careers. We have not seen an App like this before which tells us about different career and job opportunities that are linked to subjects in school. We think it will help raise awareness about job stereotypes and careers whilst connecting parents/carers with their children.
