Showcase submission deadline: Friday 2nd May 2025
The deadline for Showcase 2025 entries is fast approaching, but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to submit your students' amazing app ideas! Whether you’ve entered before or it’s your first Showcase, we’d be happy to guide you through the submission process. Feel free to reach out to our Education Community Manager, Kathy, at education@appsforgood.org for help.
It's been so exciting to see the first entries starting to come through, and we’re already blown away by the innovative ideas your students are coming up with this year. We always love seeing such a range of solutions tackling real-world problems, and we can confirm that every single submission gets a happy dance from the Apps for Good team!
Amongst our category sponsors this year; EPAM, OVO Foundation and BNY will be returning as judges, with lots of Industry Volunteers waiting eagerly in the wings for shortlisting to commence at the beginning of May. This varied and diverse group of real-world professionals will play a key role in the important task of refining the entries and helping to select finalists for each category. Every single team who enters will receive personalised feedback on their app idea from our Industry Volunteers. Here are some of the impressive numbers from last year’s Showcase:
- 232 Industry Volunteers involved in shortlisting app ideas
- 4291 reviews of app ideas
Let’s take a look back through the archives at a couple of our favourite entries from 2024:
Pollen Pal
Pollen Pal was created by 12 year old Ruthie from Speyside High School. Pollen Pal is an app that allows people to scan plants with their camera to learn about pollinators, and add virtual pollinator pets to a "hive." Ruth was inspired by a Sustainable Development Goals class at school, where she learnt all about the important role of pollinators in the ecosystem. Her app aims to raise awareness of pollinators whilst encouraging outdoor exploration and eco-friendly actions like planting wildflowers. Ruthie’s hope is that; “The app will make a difference to young people’s lives and could help the declining population of pollinators.”

QuackSaver
QuackSaver was created by Leigha (12), Olivia (12) and Savannah (13) from Dunoon Grammar School. The app was designed for people across the world who feel overwhelmed by daily tasks and lack motivation, offering a daily checklist of tasks to complete whilst caring for a virtual pet. The app aims to boost positivity and mood with motivational quotes and a ‘happy scale’, helping users build a routine and improve mental well-being through small, manageable actions. The students expressed that; “Our local area is very dear to us and lots of people are affected by sadness and other mental health problems, but we want to change that.”
